1/4/2024 0 Comments Bulk upload reverb lp![]() The difference between Altiverb and the best non-convolution reverb that I've heard is like the difference between your girlfriend and a picture of someone else's girlfriend. I think you've got plenty of room for Altiverb! Also, when I track and mix dry, I nearly always discover things that I miss if I am running reverb, so I find it best not even to worry about reverb until I'm down to those last few stems or two-track. The results are worth setting aside those immediate gratifications and waiting until you can apply it easily. Of course, you don't just absolutely have to add Altiverb until the final two track, so there's always room for Altiverb. For playback and mixing, a large buffer is not troubling to me. But once I get down to, say, 6 or 8 tracks or stems, I switch to Altiverb 5, and my machine handles it nicely-especially with a large buffer. I use non-convolution reverbs for reference when tracking and balancing (not when actually recording, of course, which I do dry, due to latency). So far, with any plugin verb I try to use, I'm always talking myself into thinking it sounds ok, when I know it doesn't. The UAD Plate is cool.Dreamverb is not too bad.DP's verbs.well. I'm not desperate yet, as I still use outboard fx (TC M5000, PCM 91, PCM 70, etc), but would love to get it all in the mainframe (for total recall). I'd love to get Altiverb but am afraid my machine couldn't handle it. I've got a G5 2.5, and Kontakt, Stylus, and BFD are pushing it to the hilt. Of course, then you'd have issues running DP these days. ![]() I've heard some whine about CPU usage, but it really is unfounded unless you are using a rather old machine. The KSP8 is still around $2000+, of course. I have seen prices as low as $469 on-line, and they sometimes pop up on eBay for under $400 used. S/PDIF can be used to keep it in the digital domain albeit at either 44.1k or 48k sampling frequency vs. (if memory serves) the higher-priced Pro version of Logic (these threads tend to diverge over time so I apologise if I have hijacked it further), I think the Kurzweil Rumour is also worth considering. So for my needs this solution works well.įor the original poster who was debating Altiverb vs. In other words, I don't need a lot of "instances" of reverb and typically just have one or two reverb aux channels per project. I rarely use reverb on non-keyboard material - just for vocals, and very subtly. I hate to not give him my business, but I'm willing to spend a bit more for much higher quality that will last me longer and will be more flexible (live and studio) as well as off-loading my CPU. The Wave Arts connection might not be obvious to most, but it's developed by a former Kurzweil employee. This unit consistently gets better marks than either Lexicon or TC Electronic from trusted sources, and as an owner of the Kurzweil PC2R (which also includes KSP8 algorithms), I am quite familiar with the transparency of Kurzweil's reverbs. Truly the only non-convolution reverb plug-in that has impressed me is Wave Arts MasterVerb, so it is no surprise that I have chosen to go ahead and buy the Kurzweil Rumour rack module, which is universally praised as being just a hair less the quality of the KSP8. ![]() I have made my decision after many more on-line reviews as well as reviews of my own experience with various products and companies and impressions of various plug-in manufacturers. The Wizoo looked interesting but I know enough about the Altiverb development that I would bias strongly towards that product (I work in the audio industry in the area of acoustics software for live performance sound design, and my company has worked very closely with most of the concert halls for which AudioEase has measured impulse responses ). Once I upgrade my computer next year, I will certainly buy Altiverb as that is the go-to reverb these days for most classical and acoustic work. They all had the same characteristic sound no matter how much I backed off or how many key parameters I altered for room size/etc. last night I downloaded and tried SpinAudio RoomVerb M2 and absolutely detested all of the presets as well as every custom setting that I tried. ![]() Wizoo 5) but my system is underpowered (I'll try a few BTD runs anyway though). Ha, I downloaded the demo for Wizoo 2 (vs.
